Step 1: Unscrew your stove top espresso and remove the coffee filter basket.
Step 2: Fill the base with cold water to just below the safety valve. Remember that since your coffee is mainly made up of water that it's important to use good quality filtered water for best results.
Step 3: Add the coffee to the coffee filter (you can use a spoon for this) and level off the top. There is no need to tamp the coffee down, you can just give it a couple of light taps on the bench if required.
Step 4: Join your stove top espresso maker back together and ensure there are no loose coffee grounds around the seal and the rim.
Step 5: Place on the stove on a medium heat. Remember to keep the handle away from any residual heat or flames to avoid burning your hand. After 3 to 5 minutes it should start to percolate, at which point you can remove from the stove and serve.
